What is Amazon DSP?

Amazon DSP is a programmatic advertising platform that lets advertisers reach potential customers on- and off-Amazon. Plus, it’s the only programmatic ad platform that uses Amazon’s own consumer data to help you target audiences of past browsers and shoppers or even build lookalike audiences similar to your customer demographics.

Amazon has an untold amount of customer data, and Amazon DSP lets you tap into that to reach your next customer wherever they are online.

How is this Different than Sponsored Display?

We control where your ad is show:

When you run a Sponsored Display Campaign, your ad is shown across the entire Amazon Display Network. This includes Amazon owned property but also 500+ other sites. With our service we are able to exclude these non-amazon placements and only show your ad on Amazon.com and the Amazon mobile app when your customers are in shopping mode. Leading to much higher advertising returns.

CPM bidding vs. CPC bidding

When you run ads on Sponsored Display you only pay per click. Which sounds like a good deal, but Amazon likes to make money. So they have to weigh the risks of showing your Sponsored Display ad and not getting paid verses showing our CPM based ad with a guaranteed payment. Through extensive testing, we’ve found that Sponsored Display costs 2x more per click than CPM bidding.

Adjustable Bids by Device:

Do desktop ads generate more sales than mobile ads? Great! We will increase our CPM base bids on the desktop traffic to generate more sales and lower the CPM base bids on mobile ads to increase ROAS. You can’t do that with Sponsored Display.

Increased Ability to Create Custom Audiences:

With DSP we are able to create custom audiences for any time frame we want – 7 day, 14 day, 21 day, ect. We can then control what we what those audiences are worth to us and exclude audiences so there is no overlap.
